Dungeon: Keep Her - Public Release - Alpha 0.12


Hello there, Keepers!

Alpha 0.12 brings a huge rework of one of the main features in the game, which definitely needed some attention:

-The Combat:

Character abilities now come from their own distinct deck of cards! 

You can now collect weapons as items and have your servants use them in battle.

Weapon effectiveness will scale with one of the main stats.

Each weapon will have it's distinct moveset and playstyle, consisting of cards you can draw at random at the start of your turn in battle.

Other equipment such as clothing items, gifts or lewd tomes will also change your characters decks! Be sure to experiment with different equipment, traits and item combinations!

-UI Improvements:

We have started work on a series of UI and QoL improvements on some areas that were still untouched since the earliest versions of the game.

The "inspect characters" / "choose item to use" UI menus were changed to a new, still WIP dynamic context menu, showing a lot more items and information!

We'll be migrating most of the UI menu elements like inventory, crafting, market and researches to this system, adding things like dynamic filters, sorting, favourites and quick actions.

Almost every sprite in the game is getting a rework, starting with the new status effects and trait icons!

-Next up & Other News:

With one more of the main features (Combat) being reworked into something we're finally pleased with, I think it's time we give some attention to dialogue and relationship interactions again!

I wanted to work on a character personality system, where characters are assigned an "archetype" when being generated (like "Brave", "Prude", "Tsundere", "Pervy", etc...), directly affecting how they act in response to certain actions and how they speak.

All of the speech ingame will be voiced. The reworked tutorial with some voiced over lines is a little experiment before we go on to voice everything, so let me know if you liked it!

-Expanding!

As some may know, I'm now slightly expanding the main development team so that the workload is shared and we can tackle different features at once!

The team will also focus on:

Reworking Character Faces!

Continue work on UI improvements and bugfixes

Creating new 2D and 3D assets

Adding content for existing systems (races, items, clothing, weapons, hair, etc!)

Once the new members of the team get acquainted with all the workflows, I plan on adding a section of this post for them to give their own words and insights on what they're working on!

-Playtesters

I decided to open up a playtesting role and channel on the official Discord server, where we'll periodically release VERY experimental debug builds, allowing Playtester patrons to help us out with testing new features or finding bugs.

I got a question

Will you ever put the game for sale on Steam? If so would you also put it up for sale on Itchio and update it there aswell?

I'm asking because Adult Only or sexual games cannot be sold on Steam for germany anymore because of steam not wanting to implement a better age verification for us. (I mean duh u need to be at least 18 anyways to buy digital things via Bank, Paypal, Paysafe)

Loading save may restart tutorial.

Trying to remove another piece of clothing before animation is finished, will stop her from doing the other animations and/or not remove the clothes.

Removing the circlet does the same as above.

Fights in the workshop; moving the camera behind the gear box covers the interface.

You can buy a farm on a room that already is a farm.

In character select window: When mousing over character the pop-up window may go too high or low on the screen.

In the character solo room:  some thing causes the right interface to almost cover the two buttons.

After selecting an attack, I can not select the character.  My work around: save the game to get the 'You saved' window.  Then I can select the character.

In the character solo room: opening a window in front of character, the mousing over will make contact the character behind the window.

Instant escapes.  There is a 'no hope' button.  Let me have the chance to use it over them leaving the dungeon by teleportation.  If teleportation is what they are doing, then let them use it when they decide to quit walking around.

The interface improvements.  I remember the character selecting was a pain.  Now it is simple.

This is a good update.

Thank you for all the details, I think I got the solution to a certain troublesome bug from this.

Also, the "Rope" item allows them to instantly escape the dungeon when consumed in battle. Maybe this is what happened?

Hope it was what you were looking for.

The rope I can handle better.  About to die?  Get pulled out.  Get the dungeon treasure?  Get pulled out.  Just want to leave?  No reason to waste rope.

I have been looking at the save file.  If sorting get added to game, may be add a 'when joined' variable.  You are storing static data about items .  In every character's 'bag' there is a poison bomb with all the variables with all of the description variables.

Support for other languages is planned but not the priority at the moment since it's still too early in development.
